GaiaPro - How to Download Layered Maps

To download layered maps, first create your customized layered map .

1. Tap the Layers icon to view the Layers menu.

2. Scroll down and tap "Download Maps" to select an area for download.

3. Select the area of the map you would like to download by dragging the dots at the corners of the selection rectangle.

4. Then, make sure to adjust your max zoom levels.

Note: the higher the max zoom, the crisper the detail of your map download. Keep in mind, increasing the max zoom also increases the size of the download.

6. When you've completed your selection, tap "Save" to begin downloading your maps.

I note that weather maps can be downloaded and then overlaid with other maps...cool...but for me I need a weather update while on the trail.  That is, when I'm out of cell range.  Is there anyway to do this?

I’d look at using a Garmin Inreach for the weather updates. I pair that with Gaia for travel.

nothing like a response 2 years later. :-)

I do use the Inreach for weather updates but I don't find it to be that accurate.  I don't think Inreach uses locations that are close enough.  For example, it will say it is raining when it is snowing outside my tent and the reported temp will be much higher.  I actually called inreach about this and they issued it as a bug last year.

Have you had a similar experience?

Haha. I didn’t notice when you posted the comment. I don’t actually use InReach for weather, just knew the weather was an option. I had a feeling it wasn’t exact for the location so your experience isn’t a surprise. I just signed up for Gaia premium and noticed a 72-hour weather layer, have you tried using that!
