We've been made aware that Samsung devices that update to Android Marshmallow are experiencing issues with the root folder. I've just updated this article to reflect that.

We're still investigating the issue and I apologize for any trouble. I'll update this article as soon as I have more information.

I have a Samsung S5 - My SD card settings/file system is the factory default.  I have not manually changed the SD path.

    Android Version 6.0.1

Can you please elaborate this a bit more?: "Devices that use a non-standard filesystem or SD path will not appear as available when changing the root folder in Gaia GPS.

Is there a way to manually correct this?

@Jeeper - if you can avoid the marshmallow update until Gaia updates, you'll be thankful! Even previously saved map tiles do not work since Gaia can no longer find any stored info on the phone.... still works fine if you have service (though then you're using cell data vs. wifi if you can pre-load...)

Thanks in advance for the assistance, Ashli.

Unfortunately still no luck for me - I'm able to produce the same error of "Unable to access external storage. Please make sure SD card is mounted" when trying to download new maps. Can't switch the root folder location either.

I am able to see my tracks... even when starting up in airplane mode... not sure if there are just some saved in a cache somehow? Or if that means it's able to get some info from SD card?? I did start the app with wifi at first, so maybe it pulled them down from the cloud and stored in cache which it's using now?? Maybe none of this helps anyway..

    Hi Erik,

Do you mind emailing your activity logs (Gaia GPS > Settings > Send Activity Logs)? Mention my name in the message so it gets routed back to me.

@ Craig - I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and put these guys through the wringers trouble shooting. FYI the folder naming is odd, and on mine the SD card is the following:

    /storage/0000-0000

    good luck

    @Ashli Baldwin and @Erik Turner,

I have resolved the issue, thanks to help from Aileen with Gaia Support, and the problem was not with Gaia GPS but with how my SD card is named within the APP. Like yours Erik, but mine is weirder:

    /storage/1AB6-1F59/

Thanks, now I'll never be lost on or off the trail. (HA!)

    Hi Support,

Bought your app, loaded to Nexus 5x. Upon using :Import File", it shows a blank screen. No folders were evident. I successfully uninstalled and seeked refund. Please fix this so I can purchase again.

    Thank you
